New Metroid Demo

Today is the day to release a new Demo of Metroid!
This demo has more than doubled the areas you can explore.
Area 1-4 out of 8 are now available in the game, and you will meet
several kinds of new monsters on your way.
Some new metroid types are also present, a total of 3 types at the moment.

Many new power-ups, such as the spring ball, Varia suit, Wave beam and High jump boots are hidden throughout the new areas.
An important improvement over the previous demo is the save game:
Now you have 3 save slots and you can save your game at any point!
Also, a minimap is now accessable throughout the game, so you will not get lost that easily ;-)

The demo is available here!

The past revisited
Well, thought some would be interested to know that a part of TI-Freakwares past is being kept alive. Back when I first started TI-Freakware, it was hosted on groups.msn.com, and wasnt overly good. But it was a start.
Now, 7 years later, the site still exists there, but will be going offline there sometime in February. In order to keep such sites existing, they have moved over to multiply, which seems to be a replacement for groups.msn.com. And they offering to do transfers of the sites for free, which is awesome.
So, sometime in the next day or so, TI-Freakware will be fully located in its past glory here.

Second Straight POTY Award
The new year has just started, and here is some news to go along with it.
The mother of all TI sites, ticalc.org, has finally announced two new staff members in Travis Evans and Nikky Southerland. Their jobs will be to manage and maintain the file archives of the site. Hopefully this will help boost activity on the site, which experienced a serious lack of activity towards the end of 2008. Congratulations Travis and Nikky, and good luck keeping up with the archives.
Some members of the TI-68k community have come together and are now beginning development on a fork of the widely popular TIGCC IDE entitled GCC4TI. The development team is hoping that GCC4TI will be more community driven, so it is highly encouraged that you visit the project page. The team is also currently holding an icon contest for people to submit what they think the GCC4TI logo should be.
AaroneusTheGreat has been hard at work on DOA, and has finished designing a fourth level as well as modifying the third. Top that off with shaving off 6kb of RAM usage, and that is what I call some progress. Of course, what would really be amazing is if he released some new screen shots :D
I am sure that you are all familiar with the ticalc.org POTY contest. For programs to be eligible for the award, they must first have been featured. Well, in the 68k category there were 3 programs featured in 2008, and they all came from programmers here at TIFW! Congratulations to Ranman, who released Ultima V: Warriors of Destiny and Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, and Lachprog, who released Egypt for TI-68k. One of you two will have a POTY award to place on your resume sometime soon. It should be noted that if Egypt is announced as the winner, it will mark the second straight year Lachprog has won. But no matter who wins it, it will also be the second straight year for TIWF! Great work guys ;). For those of you who have not tried these wonderful games, I strongly encourage you to do so by following the download links at the bottom of this article.
Ah, and as a final tidbit of information, I now have a Titanium which means I have joined the 68k madness! I do have a secret project that I am working on for the 68k calcs, but as for now I refuse to release any information :D. Maybe someday I can catch up to Ranman, Lachprog, and AaroneusTheGreat and release my own featured 68k program ;)
Well, that about does it. I wish you all the best of luck in fulfilling your New Year Resolutions :D. May 2009 be a remarkable year for the entire TI community.
